Commercial Construction Company Continues to Give Back

GADSDEN, Ala.— Venture Construction Group of Florida (VCGFL) is the Premier Platinum Sponsor of Team EVOLVE annual races. Based in Panama City, Team EVOLVE is a group of community members participating in a variety of obstacle course races and other challenges throughout each year. The team consists of VCGFL staff member Jason Cameron, local businesses, and Bay County Sheriff’s Office employees and their family members. The latest competition, Barbarian Challenge, was held on June 15 at 1500 Noccalula Rd. in Gadsden, Ala. The 6-mile race included over 20 obstacles, a tough terrain and the opportunity to run in the gorge of a 90-foot waterfall located in the center of the park.

“Completing each race and each obstacle makes me feel great about being able to contribute to the community as well as challenging myself physically to cross the finish line,” says Jason Cameron, disaster restoration specialist, Venture Construction Group of Florida.

The Barbarian Challenge takes place every year in June at Noccalula Falls Park. Individual races started at 8:00, 8:30 and 9:00 a.m. Children ages 12 and under had the opportunity to participate in a 1-mile fun run from 8-11 a.m. The team event began at 1 p.m. The day also included food and drink booths, vendors and an award ceremony. The first, second and third place winners in each age division won a custom medal. The overall female and male winner earned the coveted “Conan The Barbarian” Sword engraved with authentic runes protecting the bearer from evil. Second place overall female and male were awarded a custom made metal Barbarian helmet. Third place overall female and male were awarded a custom made Barbarian shield.

Upcoming races for Team Evolve include the Savage Rage on Sept. 21 in Dallas, Ga.; the Bonefrog Challenge on October 19th in Charlotte, N.C.; and the Tough Mudder Classic on Nov. 9 in Atlanta, Ga.

Committed to philanthropy, VCGFL is a major advocate for giving back to the community and supports numerous charitable endeavors throughout the year.

Team Evolve is led by coach JT Thompson, who won “Best Gym/Fitness Center” and “Best Weight Loss Center” in a local “Best of Bay 2019” Competition by Panama City News Herald. Team members give back to the community by volunteering, including a community project with Sleep in Heavenly Peace with the Bay County Sherriff’s Office to build 50 twin bunk beds for Hurricane Michael victims.

About Barbarian Challenge

The Barbarian Challenge was first held at Noccalula Falls Park in 2011 and it was directed by Extreme Events LLC. In 2015, the City of Gadsden bought the rights to the race and the Park and Recreation Department has directed it ever since. The Barbarian Challenge takes place once a year, on the 3rd Saturday in June at Noccalula Falls Park in Gadsden, Ala. It is approximately 6 miles and consists of 20 plus obstacles and tough terrain.
