Venture Construction Group of Florida Sponsors Southwest Florida Walk to Defeat ALS®

Venture Construction Group of Florida Sponsors Broward Walk to Defeat ALS®

Leading Florida Construction Company Fights For a Cure

SARASOTA, Fla. — Venture Construction Group of Florida (VCGFL) sponsored the Southwest Walk to Defeat ALS on May 15. The 1-mile walk was held virtually in southwest Florida throughout Sarasota, Bradenton, North Port, Fort Myers, and Naples. Walkers were encouraged to view and share an e-brochure on ALS statistics and fundraise online. Participants also had the option to tune in during their walk on ALS radio on the app, available for download on Apple and Android devices. The virtual event raised $18,664, nearly 75 percent of its $25,000 goal. The event is still accepting donations

“Our supporters know the impact spreading the word has on research, and we truly appreciate the sponsorship from Venture Construction Group of Florida and all of our local, statewide and national sponsors,” said Cal Brooks, vice president of development, ALS Association Florida chapter.

According to the ALS Association, recent successes in ALS advocacy include legislative and regulatory pressure to ensure that people with ALS have access to wheelchairs, speech-generating devices, and other necessary technology. The Association spearheaded the effort to pass the bipartisan ALS Disability Insurance Access Act to waive the 5-month wait for people living with ALS. The nonprofit also initiated and led the campaign to increase funding for the ALS Research Program at the Department of Defense (DOD) to $20 million in fiscal year 2020 — a $10 million increase over the funding levels in previous years.

“The work and efforts of the ALS Association and chapters has an immense impact on creating positive change. We’re dedicated to supporting research and advancement of ALS treatments and to ultimately find a cure,” said Stephen Shanton, CEO and president of Venture Construction Group of Florida (VCGFL).

Committed to playing a major role in advancing ALS research and help those living with ALS, Venture is the 2021 Premier Statewide Sponsor in Florida. Fundraising events include the Central Florida Walk to Defeat ALS in Orlando on March 20; the Broward Walk to Defeat ALS in Davie on April 10; the Jacksonville Walk to Defeat ALS on April 17; the Sarasota Walk to Defeat ALS on April 24; the Greater Tampa Bay Walk to Defeat ALS on May 1; the ALS Ring of Honor Golf Classic in St. Augustine on May 10; the Southwest Walk to Defeat ALS on May 15; the Tampa Bay CEO Soak on May 21; the Orlando CEO Soak on June 24, the South Florida CEO Soak in Dania Beach on August 26.
