Leading Florida Restoration Company Advocates for ALS Research
SARASOTA, Fla. — Venture Construction Group of Florida (VCGFL) is the Premier Statewide Sponsor of the ALS Association Florida Chapter Sarasota Walk to Defeat ALS®. The car parade was held in lieu of a walk on April 24 and kicked off at 10 a.m. at Nathan Benderson Park. Participants decorated their vehicles and drove laps in honor of those still fighting ALS and in memory of those who lost their fight with ALS. Local businesses, residents and volunteers participated and cheered them on. The event raised $29,143, reaching 97 percent of its $30,000 goal. The event is still accepting donations.
The Walk to Defeat ALS is the ALS Association’s biggest annual event. Funds raised have a direct impact on the advancements of global ALS research and public policy initiatives aimed at finding treatments and a cure for the disease.
The ALS Association Florida Chapter teams with leading ALS physicians and clinics across the country to provide access to specialized care for those living with ALS. The ALS Clinics and ALS Association Certified Centers of Excellence provide supportive care in a family-oriented atmosphere modeled after the criteria of The ALS Association Center℠ Program.
“The ALS Association is very close to my heart. Having lost my father to ALS, we are ongoing supporters to fight for a cure and support those living with this disease,” said Stephen Shanton, CEO and president of Venture Construction Group of Florida (VCGFL).
The ALS Association Florida Chapter provides free services and assistance for persons diagnosed with ALS, their families and caregivers. VCGFL launched their annual statewide sponsorship in March, kicking off with the Central Florida Walk to Defeat ALS in Orlando on March 20. Other events include the Broward Walk to Defeat ALS in Davie on April 10; the Jacksonville Walk to Defeat ALS on April 17. As the premier statewide sponsor, VCGFL will sponsor the Greater Tampa Bay Walk to Defeat ALS on May 1; the ALS Ring of Honor Golf Classic in St. Augustine on May 10; the Southwest Walk to Defeat ALS on May 15; the Orlando CEO Soak on June 24, the South Florida CEO Soak in Dania Beach on August 26.
