Local restoration company sponsors annual fundraiser to benefit Hurricane Michael victims
PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. – Venture Construction Group of Florida (VCGFL) teamed up with the Panama City Beach Chamber of Commerce and Visit Panama City Beach to host the 4th Annual Panama City Beach Marathon on Dec. 1. Each year, the organization selects an affiliation or cause to donate a portion of the proceeds from the event. On Dec. 11, the Panama City Beach Marathon donated $7,000 to Bay County District Schools for students and teachers affected by Hurricane Michael.
“It rained but we still had a huge turnout and tons of positive energy. Participants were determined and resilient. It was such a feel-good event. We really look forward to the marathon every year and the community really loves it,” says Shannon Haines-Richmond, director of membership services, Panama City Beach Chamber of Commerce.
The annual Panama City Beach Marathon included a Half Marathon, 5K, and a Kids Fun Run, allowing runners of all levels to participate. The race began and ended in Pier Park, with an after-party at Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville. All runners received a long sleeve shirt, and finishers received a medal. The certified course is a 2020 Boston Marathon Qualifier, and the race is professionally timed.
