Leading Construction Company Honors Military Personnel and Veterans During Military Appreciation Month

WASHINGTON, D.C.  –Honoring our nation’s fallen, Venture Construction Group of Florida (VCGFL) was the Wounded Warrior Sponsor at the Luke’s Wings Heroes Gala on April 27. Luke’s Wings is an organization dedicated to the support of service members who have been wounded in battle. The Wounded Warriors sponsorship hosted 40 wounded warriors and their families. The 2019 annual gala highlighted four families’ journey to recovery, and included dinner, music, dancing and a Live Silent Auction. The event raised $443,000 to provide critical flights for wounded, ill and injured service members, veterans in hospice care, and first responders.

“We are grateful for our sponsorship from Venture Construction Group of Florida. We cannot think of a better way to enter the second decade of Luke’s Wings than by coming together for this exciting, and significant fundraiser for our wounded warriors and military families. It was a record breaking year for us!” says Luke’s Wings executive director, Lindsay Gill.

Soon following the annual fundraiser, on May 10, Luke’s Wings celebrated providing it’s 5,000th flight to wounded, ill and injured service members. The 5,000th flight provided U.S. Army Captain Michael T. a flight from Knoxville, Tenn. to Washington, D.C. On his last deployment to Afghanistan in February of 2012, Michael was shot five times, resulting in the partial amputation of his right hand and the amputation of his right leg. Since his injury, he was relocated to Knoxville but was in need of a flight back to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center to be fitted for a new prosthetic.

Luke’s Wings was founded in 2008 and serves a long list of military medical facilities, VA medical centers and hospice facilities across the country. The next fundraiser is the Pro-Am Heroes Golf Classic, which will take place on July 22 in Vienna, Va. Learn more and register at https://www.lukeswings.org/heroesclassic/.

“We’re honored to support military personnel and veterans throughout Venture companies. We salute their dedication and sacrifice, every single day,” says John Carr, managing director, Venture Construction Group of Florida.

Celebrated each May, National Military Appreciation Month (NMAM) honors the current and former members of the U.S. Armed Forces. VCGFL sponsors numerous military and veteran organizations throughout the year.
