Leading Florida Construction Company Advocates for Policyholder Rights
ORLANDO, Fla. — As an ongoing supporter of the mission and work of the Florida Association of Public Insurance Adjusters (FAPIA), Venture Construction Group of Florida (VCGFL) proudly sponsored the 2019 Fall FAPIA Conference. The biannual event was held on Oct. 26-28 at the Wyndham Grand Orlando Resort Bonnet Creek. VCGFL sponsored the SciFi Cocktail Party and the hotel room keys. Venture companies exhibited at the conference and shared their latest projects and company advancements in technology.
“Each fall and spring, we attend the FAPIA conference, and it truly gets better and better. FAPIA brings together the best and the brightest in the industry. Together, we accomplish quite a bit each year, further improving policy and reform. The educational advancements, networking and consumer advocacy efforts really show that FAPIA members truly walk the talk,” says Stephen Shanton, CEO and president, Venture Construction Group of Florida.
FAPIA is dedicated to improving public policy by continually developing educational programs for the public adjusting community in Florida. The conference included breakout sessions, presentations, educational courses, and networking events. Sessions covered the latest updates in estimating, building code compliance, legislative changes to insurance law and public adjusting, commercial insurance claims, property loss, appraisals, ethics, Florida’s new Assignment of Benefit (AOB) law and contractor claims. Attendees included public adjusters, attorneys, construction, roofing and restoration industry personnel, licensed general contractors, and state officials. Tasha Carter, Florida’s insurance consumer advocate, presented a keynote address on Oct. 26. Carter discussed her commitment to finding solutions to insurance issues facing Floridians, including identifying questionable insurance practices while working to promote a viable insurance market that meets the needs of Florida’s diverse population. Carter also discussed her dedication to ensuring rates are fair and justified.
“Insurance consumers are very frustrated with their insurance companies. They’re frustrated that their claims have not been closed and that they have not been handled appropriately,” says Tasha Carter, insurance consumer advocate.
Networking events included the SciFi Cocktail Party held at the Exhibitor Hall on Oct 26 and a Public Adjuster Rock Concert held poolside on Oct. 27.
“The ongoing support and sponsorships each year from Venture Construction Group of Florida is very appreciated. All of our sponsorships truly help us further our mission and continually grow this organization and ultimately advance the rights of property owners,” says Craig Drillich, president of FAPIA.
FAPIA was built on the principles of the National Association of Public Insurance Adjusters (NAPIA) in 1993, and over 25 years later, the same organizational model remains in place today. As a result of the ongoing work of FAPIA, competing public adjusters and industry personnel now work together for the common good. The organization has grown from a small group of dedicated insurance professionals to the largest state trade association for public adjusters in the nation with over 600 members.
