Venture Construction Group of Florida Sponsors Annual Feed the Hungry Event

Restoration Company Helps Provide Holiday Meals to Those in Need

BOCA RATON, Fla. Venture Construction Group of Florida (VCGFL) was a proud Grand Benefactor Sponsor at the Congregation B’nai Israel (CBI) 36th Annual Feed the Hungry Event. Held on Nov. 26, locals in need received a warm holiday buffet with turkey, sides and desserts. VCGFL staff also volunteered at the event.

“It is because of our generous sponsors that we were able to feed thousands in the community a warm holiday meal, who might otherwise have gone without! What a great way to kick off the season of giving!” says Minda Shaiman, special project manager, Congregation B’nai Israel.

CBI has partnered with Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church for 36 years to provide a Thanksgiving feast with all the trimmings, pies, cakes, cookies, and more to individuals and families who would otherwise go without during the holidays. CBI partners with local restaurants and country clubs, businesses, individuals and community groups each year. Donations & sponsorship opportunities range from purchasing a turkey to sponsoring a plate, half a table, tent, an ice cream cart, or becoming a family sponsor/benefactor.

“This annual event is fantastic and helps so many in need. We love sponsoring this each year!” says Stephen Shanton, CEO and president, Venture Construction Group of Florida.

According to the Map the Meal Gap report from Feeding South Florida, a food budget shortfall of nearly 121 million meals occurs every week. These meals are missing from the tables of 706,130 people at risk of hunger in South Florida. Over 19.4 percent of children in South Florida are food insecure, meaning approximately 240,190 children go to bed hungry every night.

“While food insecurity in South Florida continues to decline in households, there is a growing number of individuals who don’t qualify for federal nutrition programs and therefore have to rely on emergency programs,” said Paco Vélez, president and CEO of Feeding South Florida.

VCGFL gives back to a variety of nonprofits throughout the year that support underserved populations with basic needs, education, youth enrichment programs and life skills.

About Congregation B’nai Israel (CBI)

Congregation B’nai Israel (CBI) inspires and connects a diverse community for generations by advancing the richness of Jewish values and traditions through the embrace of Torah (study), Avodah (work), and Gemilut Chasidim (acts of loving kindness). In 1984, four couples and one Rabbi dreamed of starting a new reform synagogue in Boca Raton, Florida. They envisioned a synagogue that was about the people, the “congregation,” and one that had the best school around. Congregation B’nai Israel was formed and soon became the fastest growing reform synagogue in the country. As the congregation grew, we broke ground in 1989 and the home of Congregation B’nai Israel was built. We are now considered one of the landmark reform congregations in the country. With nearly 1,000 families, a religious school and early childhood program over 900 students, CBI is more than just a synagogue. Our programs are rich and varied. We strive to educate and inspire our children, youth, and adults. We encourage our members to actively participate in worship and Torah study. We urge our members to contribute to the continuance and vitality of the Jewish people, to participate in our celebrated social action and philanthropic initiatives, and to commit to Tikkun Olam…repairing the world.
