About Congregation B’nai Israel (CBI)
Congregation B’nai Israel (CBI) inspires and connects a diverse community for generations by advancing the richness of Jewish values and traditions through the embrace of Torah (study), Avodah (work), and Gemilut Chasidim (acts of loving kindness). In 1984, four couples and one Rabbi dreamed of starting a new reform synagogue in Boca Raton, Florida. They envisioned a synagogue that was about the people, the “congregation,” and one that had the best school around. Congregation B’nai Israel was formed and soon became the fastest growing reform synagogue in the country. As the congregation grew, we broke ground in 1989 and the home of Congregation B’nai Israel was built. We are now considered one of the landmark reform congregations in the country. With nearly 1,000 families, a religious school and early childhood program over 900 students, CBI is more than just a synagogue. Our programs are rich and varied. We strive to educate and inspire our children, youth, and adults. We encourage our members to actively participate in worship and Torah study. We urge our members to contribute to the continuance and vitality of the Jewish people, to participate in our celebrated social action and philanthropic initiatives, and to commit to Tikkun Olam…repairing the world.
