Hail and Heavy Winds Severely Damage Properties Throughout Orange, Seminole, Volusia, Martin, Palm Beach and Broward Counties

The storms brought strong winds upwards of 77 mph and hail ranging from quarter to golf-ball-sized hail throughout Orange, Volusia, Martin, Palm Beach and Broward Counties. Areas with reports of severe hail and wind damage in Orange and Seminole counties include Winter Park, Goldenrod, Bertha, Slavia, Oviedo, Fairview Shores, Maitland, Altamonte Springs, Casselberry, Winter Springs, Pine Hills, and Lockhart. In Martin County, extensive damage was reported in Port Salerno, Hobe Sound, Jensen Beach, and Sewall’s Point. In Palm Beach County, Jupiter, Jupiter Island, Palm Beach Gardens, and Lake Park also had severe damage. In Broward County, Boca Raton reported severe wind damage, even splitting a large old tree in half and completely uprooting it.

It can lead to leaks, structural deterioration, premature aging, and weakened roofing structures and exteriors, which means a whole lot more trouble down the road, especially as we approach rainy season and hurricane season,” said Shanton.
