Venture Construction Group of Florida supports Friends in Pink during breast cancer awareness month
Local construction company holds Little Black Dress event to raise awareness
Palm City, Fla.– Venture Construction Group of Florida held the Little Black Dress event for Friends in Pink on October 15, 2015 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the Martin Downs Golf Club located at 3801 SW Greenwood Way, Palm City, Florida. Cocktails and hors d-oeuvres were served along with jazz music, cash bar, door prizes, and complimentary champagne for females. Over 200 guests attended the event to support breast cancer awareness. Cheryl Caldwell, president of Friends in Pink, spoke about the need for support in the community. According to the Journal of the National Cancer Institute, uninsured patients with breast cancer have a 30% to 50% greater chance of dying than patients with private insurance coverage. Event supporting sponsors include the Breast Care Center of the Treasure Coast, James J. Vopal M.D., Dee Stefano’s at Martin Downs Golf Club, ECP Event Group, JRC Consulting Group, and Seacoast Bank.
Friends in Pink is an organization dedicated to providing financial assistance to individuals who have been diagnosed with breast cancer and are uninsured or underinsured. Local businesses throughout the Treasure Coast also host dozens of events annually and contribute portions of sales, tickets and admission prices to the Friends In Pink organization. Portions of funds raised have helped more than 216 women and men in Martin, St. Lucie, and Indian River counties overcome the financial burden of their treatment.
